Salmon Run is a 40-unit complex, some with ocean views, located in a wooded area approximately 4 miles north of Newport (above Shore Pine Hills). The Housing Authority owns and manages this complex of two (2) and three (3) bedroom units. Two units at the complex have disability features. The rents for all units have been reduced through financial subsidies and are set at a lower than market rent level to maintain affordability.

Eligibility

Your family must be income eligible to be qualified to live at Salmon Run.

Your annual income must not exceed the limit on this Information Sheet for your family size.

Rental Process

Once your completed application is received and if you are income eligible, you will be placed on the Salmon Run waiting list according to bedroom size and in date and time order. Waiting time for assistance is much shorter than other programs waiting lists and is determined by unit availability.
  • It is important that you keep the Housing Authority updated with your correct mailing address during your waiting time since you will only be notified by mail when assistance is available.

  • You can also apply for more than one type of housing assistance and be on several waiting lists so make sure to check out our other housing assistance programs.

A HUD Choice Voucher can be used at Salmon Run. If a family moves into Salmon Run and is also on the Choice Voucher waiting list, comes to the top of the list for assistance and receives a Voucher, the family can use the Voucher at Salmon Run and not have to move.

Unlike the HUD Choice Voucher and HUD Public Housing programs, the rent at Salmon Run is fixed in your lease and does not change from month to month as your income goes up or down. You are responsible for the full amount of the rent. The only time your portion of the rent would be different would be if you are using a Choice Voucher with your rental.

Once reaching the top of the waiting list for your bedroom size your application will be screened for rental admission criteria such as criminal activity and previous rental history. We do not currently use credit history for screening admission and we do not charge an application fee.
