The program promotes development of skills and exploration of interests, enhances positive character traits and life skills, and helps strengthen academic skills. From Discovery's inception, Oceanspray has directed efforts to create a quality program. DPU excepted at $100 monthly fee.
The Reading Buddy Program
When: 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM. Once a week except during scheduled vacations.

The student benefits from the positive recognition and individual attention the adult mentor can provide. Reading Buddies spend one hour a week with their students, first eating a snack together, then spending the rest of the time in a variety of activities such as reading together, playing games or talking. Volunteer mentors must complete a training prior to being matched with their Reading Buddy. This program requires registration, but has no fees.
